How to keep a HonkIP name pointing at your home, for 23 routers, NAS boxes and computers.
Netgear, ASUS, ISP routers
Many Netgear and standard ASUS routers, and most routers from internet providers, only show a fixed list of providers. You can't type our server into them.
That's fine. Any other device at home that is usually switched on can keep your name up to date instead. Pick one:
- A NAS: Synology or QNAP
- A PC that is usually on: Windows or Mac or Linux
- A Raspberry Pi or home server: Linux or Docker
Your router's own list does sometimes have Custom at the bottom. If yours does, use Any router: Custom DDNS setting.
