Terms of service

These terms are between you and HonkIP ("HonkIP", "we"). By making an account you agree to them.

What HonkIP does

HonkIP gives your home a name, like smith.honkip.com, and keeps it pointing at your home's internet address. We only answer "where is this name". Your traffic goes straight to your home and never passes through us.

Your account

• Use a real email address you can receive mail on. We use it for sign-in links and alerts.
• Keep your password and update key private. Anyone with your key can change where your name points.
• One free home name per person.

Fair use

Don't use HonkIP for anything illegal, for phishing, malware, spam, or to pretend to be someone else, and don't overload our service. We can pause or remove names that break these rules, or that are reported to us for abuse, and we'll tell you by email when we do.

Free plan

Your free name stays yours while it's in use. If no router or device updates it for 12 months, we may free it up for someone else. We'll email you first.

Paid plans

• Plus and Pro are paid monthly or yearly in advance and renew until you cancel.
• You can cancel any time. Your plan runs to the end of the period you paid for, then you go back to the free plan.
• If you're not happy, ask for a refund within 14 days of your first payment.

Domains bought through HonkIP

• We register domains for you through our domain partner, in your name, for one year at a time.
• They renew yearly at the price shown when you bought them, unless you turn renewal off. We email you 30 days before.
• Domain registrations can't be refunded once made, because the registry charges us straight away.
• The domain is yours. You can move it to another company any time; ask us for the transfer code.

Service

We work hard to keep HonkIP running, but we can't promise it will never be down. HonkIP is provided as it is, and we aren't liable for losses caused by a name not working. If we're ever liable, it's limited to what you paid us in the last 12 months.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll email you at least 14 days before it starts.
