Double router (modem plus your own router)
If your provider's box and your own router are both routers, connections from outside have to get through two of them. The first one usually stops them.
- Best fix: put the provider's box in bridge or modem-only mode, so only your own router does the routing. The setting is often under Internet or WAN. Your provider can help.
- Or: on the provider's box, forward the same ports to your own router's address, then forward them again on your own router to the device.
Keep your name updated from your own router or a device behind it. Either works.
